The Fat Decimator System

I feel conflicted as I just took a new job in April and after only 5 months it seems to be a bad fit. The department is very cliquey and back-stabbish, I feel like I don’t fit in, one of the people has been very rude to my face and plays it off as she’s “just kidding”. I also have a co-worker who is trying to undermine me and get me in trouble. She will go to our boss with any little mistake I make and try to throw me under the bus.

I don’t know if it’s worth saying something to my boss- she might act as though I’m the problem.. or if I should just start looking for another job. I feel bad leaving after such a short time but every day I’m there, I feel like crap. The main reason I’m there is good pay and benefits and I have a mortgage to pay.Any thoughts would be helpful! Thank you

It seems to be a bad fit Relationship & Sex As a former employer I like applicants who stay in their jobs six months or longer. You are almost there and by the time you find a new job it should be at least 6 months. Please take the excellent advice to find a new job before you tell anyone you are thinking of leaving. Give notice. One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is that when you do quit, Don’t say it was “because I didn’t fit.” It makes you look fussy and week. Say that your reason is “hostile work environment”. This is not harsh or trouble making. This is giving the company the information they need to fix the problem. And it is their problem.FA

It seems to be a bad fit Relationship & Sex If work is giving you this much hassle then it really is not worth it. As you say you have a mortgage to pay so you need to work, therefore if it was me then I would start looking for another job straight away, once something comes up then you can hand in your notice. People like this are never going to change therefore you shouldn’t entertain them at all. Be polite and professional until something new comes along. Good luck.

Work places with this kind of drama doesn’t change. And don’t leave this job until you have one equally food or better. The person who is being rude to your face and then calling it “just kidding” – I’d just tell her next time that she isn’t funny and can she please just stop talking to you.As for the “running to the boss and tattle telling on you” ewww.. I hate those people. My guess is she does it to cover her own ass. Just do your best at your job, double check to avoid the little mistakes. (if possible) and keep looking for a new job.Sounds like a hostile work environment. That won’t change. If it was JUST one person, maybe something could be done, but when it’s a whole department (more or less) it’s just not worth it.At least that would be my take on it.
